About Our Company:
Roots and Culture Tours NYC is a Limited Liability Company (LLC). Each of our tours are unique and like New York City, one of a kind. We believe in creating new tours, rather than replicating other tour operators. Your tour always includes free visits to various cultural and historical venues, shopping and many other surprises. They are suitable for all ages, and start at a location in Manhattan that is easily accessible via the subway.
What does Roots and Culture Mean?
We are called Roots and Culture Tours NYC because when you take one of our tours, you will discover one of the many roots of New York City; the contribution of its diverse communities and their cultures, which keeps the city alive and vibrant.
What age qualifies for a Free child ticket?
Roots and Culture Tours NYC believe it is important for families to enjoy vacations together. Therefore, it is FREE for all children 5 and under and under to take a tour. (minimum number of children per tour applies).
Are the tours suitable for children?
All tours are suitable for all ages in context. We do suggest that for babies or toddlers, parents bring a carrier or pram for walking tours. All children in school must be escorted by an adult.
Can I pay in cash?
No. You are required to purchase a ticket via www.zerve.com. This is to allow Roots and Culture Tours NYC to ensure we are prepared to give you the best tour possible and organize your free visits to museums or food tasting in restaurants.
If the tour is sold out, is there a waiting list?
No. Roots and Culture Tours are available on a first come, first serve basis. We encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.
Can I take the trip if the weather is going to be bad?
All Roots and Culture Tours continue in all weather conditions. In the event of severe weather, please call our hotline on the day of the tour for updated information. Roots and Culture Tours reserve the right to cancel tours in the event of potentially dangerous weather and will refund all fees.
Is Videotaping allowed on a Tour?
While photography is allowed, filming or audio-taping is prohibited while on the tour.
Meeting Sites/Time/Distance
At the meeting site, all guides carry a sign that says "Roots and Culture Tours NYC".
Walking Tours:
All tours last approximately two hours. Each tour includes site visits relating to the theme of the tour. Approx length walked for each tour is 2 miles. Most tours do not conclude where they began and our tour guides will direct you to the nearest subway station.
Bus Tours:
All bus tours last approximately 3.5 hours and include stops for sites visits relating to the theme of the tour. You will be required to exit and return to the bus at various points.
Tour Guides
All Roots and Culture tour guides are qualified licensed tour guides by the City of New York and hold a New York Sightseeing License. They all have a passion for the diverse cultures of the Big Apple and are a vivid part of the community.
Private Tours
